Description:
Urn plants have overlapping leaves which form a series of cups in which rainwater collects. Plant fragments also become trapped and release nutrients into the water. Specialised hairs on the surface of the leaves absorb the water and dissolved nutrients to support the plant. The pools of rainwater are an important habitat for aquatic insects and frogs.
