Description:
When the female dragonfly is ready to lay her eggs, she dips her abdomen into the water. The eggs sink below the surface, and hatch into nymphs. Whilst living underwater, dragonfly nymphs use their jaws to eat other larvae, as well as tadpoles and small fish. Once fully grown, a nymph climbs out of the water to begin metamorphosis - though the nymph may live underwater for as long as five years.
