Description:
The Sun is the star at the centre of our solar system. It is about 5 billion years old and will continue to shine as it does now for about another 5 billion years. It is a yellow main-sequence star, and consists almost entirely of hydrogen and helium. It is made up of its core, a radiative zone (which transmits energy outwards via radiation) and a convective zone (which transmits energy outwards via convection).
